All about your bones!
After School Science Club
Bet our kids know a bit more than you about the skeletal system!
How does it work?
What jobs do they do besides holding you up and helping you move?
And let us help you name a few!
Wild wild school!
Kindy Beginners
Our kids have come a long way!
The little capable writers are pumping out a speech on what makes their school wild. So far, we have:
a whale acting as a maths teacher;
floor made of magma; and
students floating on water as they learn…
Competing against champions!
News and Debate
The NSW championship debate topic was: Kids should do 30 min of homework every weeknight.
Let’s brainstorm some ideas and debate it out next week to see how we fair against the NSW finalists!
Let me tell you about Jane…
Creative Writing
What an AMAZING effort from all of the kids on their biography of Jane Goodall.
Learning about someone inspiring will make writing just a little more interesting!
All about fish…
Science Club
A bit of dissecting with the kids to learn about parts of a fish and their functions!
And when we’re tired of worksheets, a game of chase will teach you all the methods fish use to avoid predators.
We are masters of sounds!
Kindy Beginners
Not only are we brilliant readers, but we can also sound out our own words.
Practising retelling the story in your own words is a fantastic way for kids to realize just how much they can put down on paper by themselves! Well done, kids!
An Election Showdown!
Year 3-6 News Club
After the 2022 Federal Election, our kids weighed in with their thoughts about our new Prime Minister and his government.
Should our government do more for the environment or should the priority be our economy? Perhaps we have a future Prime Minister with us today!
Super Sentences with Super Rabbit Boy!
Year 1 - Online Book Club
Understanding the structure of sentences is important to be able to write well! We learned all about subjects and verbs with the help of some super sentences. Now let’s settle in with a good book and see if Super Rabbit Boy can save Animal Town!
Magnetism is critical to human lives… not just for our fridge doors!
Science Club - Year 2-5
Revision of what makes a material magnetic was easy. Understanding the link between electricity and magnetism was the next logical step.
With a couple of hands on experiments, our kids confidently agree that they understand the fundamentals of all types of magnets. Let’s apply our knowledge to mechanical engineering next week!
The Egyptian Pyramids - here we come!
Year 1 - Creative Writing
To get our creative juices running. We continued with the Egyptian theme and took the kids inside the pyramids.
Funny how much kids are willing to put down on paper when there’s a little bit of excitement!
Is protein too hard a concept for our kiddies to learn? Nope!
Science Club - Kindy & Stage 1
Why is protein important?
Well, let’s thread some amino acids into peptide bonds and observe the process of denaturing within an egg.
It is never too early to understand the needs of our bodies. Let our kiddies teach you a thing or two!
A sunny garden is what we need…
Kindy Beginners
Our cuties felt very accomplished upon receiving their certificates for completing their first 8 sounds. We’re getting to some big words! Everyone was keen to progress to the next level.
But what made the day even more rewarding, was that everyone had a good shot at their impromptu presentation - What I Love About My Teacher! It was the serenity of the garden that did the job!
Let’s visit Europe!
Creative Writing - Year 1
We got on a plane and travelled around Europe today, to understand deeper, our sense of smell. It’s easy to say we should include all our senses to be more descriptive in our writing, but how do we actually do it?
Answer: Blindfolded!
Electricity Part 1 2 & 3
Science Club - Stage 2 & 3
What is the role of electrons in an atom? What materials conduct electricity and why? How is circuit electricity different from static electricity? We don’t just want answers on our worksheets, we want in-depth understanding of all the fundamentals of electricity. Our kids proved they could do just that by successfully completing all our experiments!
To name just a few:
Balloon vacuum cleaner and move the can challenge.
Building their own electric circuit with a switch.
Using their knowledge of a circuit to build a burglary alarm.
Finding their own conductors and non-conductors of electrity to complete the circuit.
Awesome work guys!
Take our parachute challenge!
Science Club - Kindy & Stage 1
After learning a little something about drag, our kiddies went into groups and had heated discussions on the best way to protect their egg! Some wrapped it in clear tape, others nested their eggs in cotton! What smart kiddies!
The most intelligent act of all, was of course, by me … for remembering to boil the eggs before the challenge!
One finger per goal…
Writing Club
Starting a new school year is the perfect time to set new goals. It was a great opportunity to practice writing in future tense. It’s amazing how attentative our kids can be when focusing on the things they want to do for 2021.
Present your sport to the Olympic Committee.
News, Presentation & Debate Club
Post reading a news article on new sports being introduced in the Paris Olympics, we discussed the history and purpose of the Olympic games. Our children didn’t all agree on whether having the olympics was necessary when they presented their opinion but that’s okay.
Some interesting sports were also presented to the “International Sports Committee” during our impromptu. My favourite was the Boxing Kangaroo an the Robo Pen. Well done kids!
The Human Respiratory System
Science Club - Stage 2&3
We found our kids had a lot of interest in the human body and started our year exploring the human respiratory system. The highlight was building with the kids a respiratory model. It was a battle between two teams but both produced outstanding results!
Everyone had a laugh at the lung capacity challenge where the smallest contestant came out on top!
New stamps introduced for Covid-19
News, Presentation & Debate Club
Our current affairs article today is on the introduction of new stamps to raise awareness for Covid-19. We discussed the use and evolution of stamps.
We suggested for our kids to provide reasons on why stamps are no longer popular, but an overwhelming number of kids decided to argue the opposite! Forming our own opinions! Well done!
Live reports of witches in town!
Creative Writing Club
Halloween theme continued…
After we learnt the key features of a news article, we all had a go at writing one ourselves! Those who were keen to be a reporter got on stage to present their shocking stories. So much drama is happening in town!
